International SPR student award for Students from Developing Countries
The Executive Committee of SPR is delighted to announce an international student travel award competition for the 2015 SPR conference in Philadelphia. There are a maximum of 4 awards, with a value of $1,000 (USD) each. These awards are oriented to students from developing countries (according the World Bank - the list of eligible countries is attached). The aim is to empower students who cannot participate in this conference without extra support. These awards are independent from SPR chapter awards.
To be eligible, the student must be:
1) The first author on a paper or poster, 2) A student (according to SPR membership status) at the time of the conference, 3) In good standing with SPR (i.e., SPR membership is current) and 4) A citizen of a developing country and working in a developing country.
Awards will be presented during the 2015 SPR conference, upon verification of paid registration.
Application deadline is January 1st, 2015.
Applications should be submitted electronically to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/sprtravelaward, in the order noted below, in one PDF document:
1) Cover Letter (includes student name, country of origin and work, title of the work) 2) Summary of the work (one page, single-spaced, exclusive of references, tables, and figures) 3) Abbreviated curriculum vitae (1 page maximum, focusing on the applicant’s major research activities - presentations, publications, works in progress - within the past 2 years). Students’ CVs should indicate educational status (e.g., master’s student, doctoral candidate).
Applications will be reviewed by an Awards Committee with representation from all SPR chapters.

The Awards Committee will evaluate each proposal along the following criteria:
a) Importance or significance of the topic to the field
b) Originality of the idea
c) Clarity and quality of the methodology.
d) Impact of the results and potential clinical application
Successful applicants will be notified in March 2015.
